Our Story

After countless family vacations to regional NSW, our dream was to discover a haven where we could warmly welcome guests, offering them a taste of the idyllic country experiences we cherished with loved ones over the years.

Upon entering the gates of this picturesque property, a profound sense of tranquillity enveloped us. We instantly knew that this was the perfect place to craft memorable experiences for our guests, whether for their special occasions or private retreats. Originally known as Billabong Moon, we decided to rename it Sweetacres Hunter Valley, infusing a touch of our family history into the region.

Our passion for hosting friends and family, coupled with the desire to create something uniquely our own, led us to this endeavour. Nickey's background in interior and graphic design proved invaluable in fashioning inviting spaces for relaxation. Andrew, with experience in business and sports focused on people management and development, brought his expertise to ensure a seamless operation.

Together, our mission is to offer guests an unparalleled experience at Sweetacres. Whether it's a special celebration, a romantic escape, or quality time with loved ones, we strive to leave our guests feeling not just satisfied but truly relaxed and joyful. Our six thoughtfully designed cottages are crafted to immerse you in the essence of our Hunter Valley community, ensuring an unforgettable stay.

Why Sweetacres?

Infusing the Hunter Valley with a touch of family heritage, Sweetacres holds a special place in Nickey's lineage, evoking memories of shared moments and cherished traditions.

The Sweetacres' legacy traces back to Nickey's great-great-grandfather, James Stedman, who, after dedicating 21 years to a confectionary business since the age of 14, became its proud owner. As the enterprise flourished, James acquired acreage in Rosebery, Sydney, giving rise to the renowned Sweetacres. Under the family-run business, Stedman Henderson, iconic Australian sweets like Minties, Jaffas, Marella Jubes, Throaties, and Fantales were created.

In its heyday, Sweetacres became synonymous with indulgence, reserved for special moments and cherished occasions—a tradition we proudly continue for our guests here at Sweetacres in the Hunter Valley.

We eagerly anticipate welcoming you to our happy place, where the spirit of Sweetacres is alive and well, creating a haven for shared joy and unforgettable moments.
